FAQs

Testing & Validation

How has Core Cover been tested?

Cover has undergone a structured programme of real-world and controlled impact testing, designed to reflect the conditions cricketers actually face.

Testing has included:

  • High-velocity impact testing using cricket balls at representative match speeds
  • Repeated strike testing to assess structural integrity over time
  • Extended wear testing during training sessions and competitive match play
  • On-field validation across batting, wicket-keeping, bowling and close-in fielding positions

This programme allowed us to refine the shell construction, internal energy-absorbing layers, shape and stability — delivering consistent protection without unnecessary bulk.

Who was involved in the testing process?

Testing involved current and former professional cricketers, coaches and high-performance environments. Their feedback directly informed refinements around comfort, fit, stability and movement.

Safety & Risk Management

What type of impacts is Core Cover designed to protect against?

Cover is engineered to protect against high-velocity hard-ball impacts commonly experienced while batting, wicket-keeping, close-in fielding and bowling.

Can Cover prevent all injuries?

No protective equipment can eliminate all risk. Cover is designed to significantly reduce the likelihood and severity of injury when worn correctly, but cannot guarantee complete injury prevention.

Is Cover suitable for junior players?

Cover may be used by junior players where sizing and fit are appropriate. Adult supervision is recommended to ensure correct positioning and use.

When should Cover not be used?

Do not use Cover if it is cracked, dented, deformed or otherwise damaged. Continued use of a compromised product may reduce protection.

Correct Use & Fit

How should Core Cover be worn?

Core Cover must be worn inside a jock strap or compression shorts with a dedicated pouch. It should sit snugly, centred and securely positioned before play begins. We recommend purchasing the bundle so that your Core Cover works with our Jockstrap as they are designed to work together as a system.

Does positioning matter?

Yes. Proper fit and positioning are critical to effective protection. Incorrect placement may reduce impact performance. The Cover jockstrap should help maintain a stable position placed properly.

Care, Maintenance & Hygiene

How should Core Cover be cleaned after use?

After each use, towel dry thoroughly to remove moisture. For hygiene purposes, it may occasionally be wiped down with isopropyl alcohol.

Can Core Cover be machine washed or submerged?

No. Cover should not be machine washed, submerged in water or exposed to high heat, as this may compromise material integrity.

How should Cover be stored?

Store in a dry, ventilated environment away from direct sunlight or excessive heat. Do not store while damp.

How long does Cover last?

With correct use and care, Cover is designed to last multiple seasons. Lifespan will vary depending on frequency of use, impact exposure and maintenance.

When should I replace Cover?

Replace immediately if:

  • It has sustained a significant impact
  • There are visible cracks, dents or deformation
  • It no longer fits securely or comfortably

When in doubt, replace it.

Materials & Build

What materials is Core Cover made from?

Cover combines a high-strength alloy outer shell with layered energy-absorbing internal materials, selected for impact dispersion, durability and long-term performance.

Do the materials degrade over time?

All protective equipment degrades with repeated impact and wear. Regular inspection is essential to ensure ongoing protection.

Purchasing

How much does Cover cost?

The Core Cover retails at NZD $120. The Cover jockstrap retails at NZD $60. However we strongly advise purchasing the bundle (Core Cover + Jockstrap) for NZD $150 as the system is designed to work together to enhance protection.
